Is there anybody using 2D barcode type PDF417 in your warehouse to manage inventory?
I understand many factories use Code39, some EAN128. Unfortunately it is not possible to "encode" much information in those 1D barcodes, rather package-ID or part number. The other information is stored deep in the information system.
It looks that PDF417 or data matrix can hold much more information directly in this kind of code. I mean traceability info, expiration date, etc.
Warehouse staff having 2D barcode readers with display can easily understand some important info directly after reading the label.
